Would you like to share your experiences of Torbay?
I’ve long been interested in what keeps communities alive and connected. I recently published Secrets of Village Life in Somerset (available on Amazon by searching Brian Snellgrove) and have also explored community life for over a decade through my online diary, briansnellgrove.net. With nearly two million words written, there’s plenty there to browse if local Somerset life interests you.
Over the years I’ve written 1,846 TripAdvisor reviews and, earlier in life, founded London Village, a social network that helped thousands of newcomers form real friendships.
My next project – ‘Life in Torquay’ – centres on Torbay, especially Torquay. I’m exploring what quality of life means in a seaside town and hope to speak with a wide range of local people to understand everyday experiences — what works well, what’s challenging, and what helps a community thrive.
I would be glad to hear from anyone with a view on any aspect of the area. I am very contactable by email: Brian@pobox.com or 078 09 245 311. We can arrange a Zoom meeting or a telephone chat.
If you would like to be kept in touch with this project, either as a contributor or to know when I start work on the book, please use the form—the green ‘sign me up’—below.
Unexpected Connections
Prior to starting this project I shall be producing a completely new user-friendly guide of Chard, so don’t expect an immediate detailed response. but feel free to contact me with anything on your mind that you think needs to be shared.
- How does Torquay feel different in winter?
- Does the season affect your mood or outlook?
- What helps you through the quieter months?
- What do you value about being in Torbay now?
- What would you like to see change in Torbay?
I look forward to hearing from you
