First off I will talk to AI to get some sort of perspective as a starter:
In general, being a member of the Islamic faith is synonymous with being a Muslim. The term Muslim simply means “one who submits to God” in Arabic, and it refers to someone who believes in the core tenets of Islam: the oneness of God (Tawhid), the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ, and the Qur’an as divine revelation.
So, can someone be part of the Islamic faith without being a Muslim?
Not in the theological sense. Here’s why:
- Islam is not an ethnicity or culture alone—it’s a belief system. To be considered part of the Islamic faith, one must accept its foundational beliefs.
- Respecting or admiring Islam doesn’t make someone a Muslim. Many non-Muslims appreciate Islamic art, philosophy, or ethics, but that’s different from religious affiliation.
- Islamic law and tradition do not recognize someone as a member of the faith unless they profess belief in its core doctrines.
It is clear that this is going to be hard work so I’m not going to rush things but I would like to refer you to articles in the conservative woman which give very valuable political background to the whole matter. The following is not for the casual reader.
