One thing I really do need in life is a role model, or should I say several role models. I need to admire people and I’ve long given up admiring any politician because I discover they are in it for what they can get out of it. I came across a man yesterday in an ALDI store who radiated love and caring and stood out from the other so much I wanted to give him a hug but on this occasion he was busy so I will go back and give him positive feedback on his wonderful charisma. all he was doing was helping customers with the automated checkout machines but it was the way he did it that was such a joy, his love was so embracing.
I got this next example from a subscription-only collection of items called ‘Medium’Â Â There Are Only Two Rules In Life (According to Marcus Aurelius): Between strong discipline and philosophy, discover how the great man saw the world. Instead of becoming a power-hungry dictator, he turned his focus inward and found great comfort, strength, and wisdom in all the areas of his life that held him back.
He then dedicated himself to overcoming those areas so he could progress along his spiritual path, lead people with more compassion, and help others do the same. Along the way, he found that there were two rules that served his greater good: “The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.
Anias Nin said, “We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.”
There are so many sources of wisdom from so many people I’ve decided to limit myself to a few; these comprise the thinkers Iain McGilchrist, Carl Jung, Alan Watts, Edgar Cayce, and Richard Feynman. Between them the combined wisdom is enough to keep anyone occupied, even full-time.
Whilst on the subject, thistwo-minute video by a French chap was helpful. It is called ‘Stop Chasing Teachers and Tools’
