Bristol on a sunny day

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Last night, late on Friday, I asked ChatGPT what was on in Bristol on Saturday, and it told me about the Windrush event, about which I have written. When I am guided somewhere, it always follows the same formula: the subject matter may not have been totally exciting, but if I get drawn to it, a bit like being sucked into a vacuum cleaner, then I go and don’t ask questions about why. I have done a lot of recording and writing in my recent books, so I might as well use this skill to make a record of the conference so that people who could not attend would be able to get some advantage from the written word, but of course there’s nothing like being at a conference itself and meeting people in the flesh.

There were about 50 or 60 people there, and they were all enthusiastic and open-minded. It was in the main council room of the Bristol City Hall, which I had never been to before, and I was friendly enough. The event provided refreshments, a commodity and coffee beforehand and some light refreshments, hot and cold afterwards, more like a tasty snack, but that was more than welcome. Anyway, I did my recording thing and then left to walk around for an hour or so before I caught the 172 back to Midsomer Norton.

For the most part I have stopped making loads of images of the places I see, but I could not resist the following, which I saw wandering around. I had a bad stomach because there’s something I eat which I have not yet discovered that makes me very ill, so I had the inspiration of having some ice cream before the event and then more ice cream afterwards, proper Italian gelato or some such, and it was very pure and helped me with my stomach problems.

Anyway, here are a few pictures. Please enjoy them

A lovely juxtaposition of chairs. A tryptic indeed.

It is always good to remind ourselves of the context if a famous quote
