I’ve had very little time to write because I’ve been fully occupied with an event this weekend where I’m going to present a new website and my learning curve is steep and the people I normally rely on to help are not available so hey it’s one of those weeks.
The Midsomer event is in a large field behind Saint Chad’s Surgery and quite a lot has been done over the last years to rescue it from being more or less of field to a place which can be used for a variety of purposes. It is not a flat place so it does not favor sports events but OK for small tents and marquees. It was held between midday and five pm. on Saturday 12th July.Â

very strange judging

this was the only entry in its class so guess who gets the first prize

A happy band of amateur drummers and bangers – why not
The main area for judging fruit and vegetables and art was in a tent a joining the Somer Centre. In the hall itself that usual cakes were laid out, I did miss some savory items as I must not eat too many cakes. There were a lot of tables at which people were sitting just enjoying themselves or chatting with their friends.
On the field there were a variety of local organizations represented, a bit of a beer tent, rather an empty activity area for children, and overpriced coffee van. £3.75 for a latte is too much. At the end there were a variety of people including children banging drums and enjoyment themselves. There was a performance stage featuring local artists with varying degrees of enthusiasm and musicality.
We stayed for about an hour and I give it about six out of ten for overall value.
Perhaps I’m being a bit of a misery but I can no longer see things through the eyes of a young family. As it was free of charge and the weather was good it’s a pleasant enough way to pass the time but I was not engaged I’m afraid. We have been to quite a number of Fayres this season and this was quite frankly on the boring side,Â
