A surreal view of a Bath Abbey Service

Today I viewed some streaming from Bath Abbey. So the virus is very clever. It keeps away from the choir when they are singing but will attack the congregation if they sing.  I can find no respect for the church's' caving in to this ridiculous series of edicts. If I went along saying I was exempt  they would not let me in.  Our opportunities for freedom diminish by the day but the trends are...

Two things that have really annoyed me today

So I got up this morning and went to Wetherspoon's for breakfast. I arrived about 8:30 AM and ordered my meal which was a traditional breakfast with coffee. To my surprise I was only charged £2.75 and I forgot that from Monday to Wednesday for some perverse reason the government is picking up the tab for half the food provided that it is below £10 ahead. I think that is to feed us crumbs of...

Meeting of our Christian Men’s Group

Our group is called rather unfortunately 'Mens United BA3' which of course clashes too much with the Manchester United football team but perhaps that is something that is only going on in my head. In the most magisterial and visionary way, St John is trying to convey in words the enormous sweep of our world receiving a...

Persecuted Christians – our 6th anniversary in Somerset

Today is the 6th anniversary of our arrival in Somerset. On that day 24th November it was also raining. Life has changed in so many ways that it is difficult to enunciate them in one go. I met the mayor of Midsomer Norton fairly early on in our time. He said that things would happen for us but 10 times slower than we would like and he was absolutely right. We are now on more than nodding...

Challenging words from a blind headmaster

As a result of my membership with the local men's group, we get to hear about other groups in the area one of which is in Frome. This evening they are holding a men's curry night and here is the advertisement: Speaker: Dr John Bradshaw. John, a committed Christian, grew up on his family farm in Zimbabwe. He shares his inspirational story - from when a booby-trapped land mine exploded in his face...
